About This Project

During the months of February and May 2018, the TPS program was carried out in the community of La Ceiba of Union Neighborhood in South Petare, with 16 participants between 9 and 14 years old, and thanks to the support of Chamos Charity. On this occasion, the place transformed by the workshop participants and the community was El Manguito Boulevard, which was inaugurated on May 19.

After analyzing their community and selecting the space to transform, 3 models were made that were exposed to the community so that they could vote for their favorite elements. This time the winners were: a mural designed by the children that represent the identity of the community, a railing to prevent accidents from pedestrians walking at street level, lighting for the boulevard entrance to reduce insecurity and build some educational games for children in the area.

With the support of more than 100 neighbors and volunteers, we carried out the intervention that included the restoration of the wall that functions as the border between the boulevard and the street, the construction of a 45 m2 mural, a game on the floor with more than 3,000 mosaics of colors, the construction of a slide that once served as a reservoir, and a rubber swing. The staircase that connects the street with the boulevard was also restored, where a railing was placed to facilitate transit.
