In this workshop the 50 5th grade children from the U.E. Pablo María Fuentes learned participatory design tools in order to design a 125 m2 park for their school, which they named “Bahía de Sonrisas”. In February 2018, the Trazando Espacios team traveled to El Pilar in Edo. Sucre to carry out the first phase, imagine, where the educational community responded to the program’s ambassadors what they wanted for the park, and how they imagined it. From these results, 5 models were made that reflected the ideas collected by the children from which innovative proposals emerged such as the boat to which the park owes its name, which connects with a handrail, a slide that reaches a sandbox and some swings. Also, the design included a park with slides and swings for the little ones and a mural called «The Cocoa Dance.» In the transform phase, participants were already in 6th grade and integrated their new classmates into the process during the work week in October 2019.
This program was carried out in partnership with the San Jose Foundation.
