San Blas, Petare Sur, Caracas, Venezuela

If there is space that is significant within San Blas, that is Matapalo. The sensation of a square built intuitively around an extraordinary tree that serves as a vial, transport stop and workspace for some; with borders made up of a kindergarten, a chapel, a medical care center, a chanca, warehouses and houses. Right there is the Park of the Matapalo Field, the space selected to transform into the first phase of the program in March 2018.
During the second phase, 3 models were exhibited that brought together the ideas of the neighbors and the participants, and who were put to a vote. The most voted elements were building a roof with skylights, making a mural inspired by the community chapel, playing a didactic game on the floor to learn how to add and subtract, place benches for rest, and set the scene with plants.
After 4 Saturdays of work with the help of volunteers and neighbors, it was inaugurated on July 21, 2018, evidencing the positive change in the awareness of many people.
This program was carried out with the support of Chamos Charity and more than 100 people, including volunteers and neighbors.
